April 3, 2020
Dear KPAC Members,
I hope that you are all doing well and staying safe during this health crisis. This has become a tough time for everyone and we have had to make some difficult decisions.
With the new restrictions ordered by the Governor this week, it will be impossible for us to rehearse and prepare for our Pop's Concert series. At this point, the board has decided that we need to cancel our Pop's Concerts on May 1, 2020 and May 2, 2020. Even if everything returns to normal on May 1, not many people will want to venture out in large crowds.
We are looking into other options to perform our music at a later date. We welcome any ideas and suggestions with dates or venues for us to perform. Some of our ideas include:
-Rescheduling our Pops concerts at a later date.
-Creating separate concerts to feature each of our groups.
-Combining our pops and cabaret literature to create new programs tailored to a different performance venue.
-Creating a benefit concert to bring people together with music (similar to after the 9/11 attacks)
-Other options to help out the community local and state wide.
MUSIC: We ask for you to hold onto your music for now. Either we will perform the music, or we will collect it at a later date. For right now, hold onto it and make photocopies if you are able.
We are also looking into our scheduled events this summer with the Jazz Band this July.
Lastly we encourage everyone to keep music close to you. Many people around the world have been performing on social media, and creating new virtual concerts. There is nothing better in this time to use music as a release and sanctuary in this time. Sing or play your favorite song, practice a difficult fingering phrase, or just entertain your pets. Music is made to bring us together even when we are far apart.
If you have any questions, contact myself, another board member, or Chuck.
Please stay safe,
